Global Context
Unwanted teen pregnancy occurs across the world. It does not just happen in Chicago where I live. It happens everywhere. According to Ganesh Dangal, M.D., a consultant gynecologist and obstetrician, argues that teen pregnancy can happen to everyone, at any time. In Dangal’s journal about teen pregnancy, Dangal says it’s clear that pregnancy “affects nearly every society- developed and developing alike…concerning reproductive health of women not only in developing but also in developed countries.”[1] Even though teen pregnancy occurs in every society it often occurs in countries with low income. According to the World Bank website, it shows how “Niger has a rate of 205 births per 1,000 women” which makes sense because Niger is a country where the income is very low, but on the other hand it also shows how in Korea and Slovenia where it's little more of wealth there's just 1birth per 1,000 women.[2] Teen pregnancy rates are different depending on the economy and environment where the teen live.
