Debate and Controversy
Teen pregnancy is a debate in schools. Some teachers think they should support teens girls and other disagree. For example in an article on NBCNews website it showed a situation where a high school principal in Massachusetts made a pact with some girls to do a “day care center”[1] mean while Christopher Farmer, superintendent of the Gloucester school system, and the city's mayor denied any pact existed because they thought that was like saying “teen motherhood is OK.” [2] As a teenager I believe that teen moms deserve some support. And they're not getting it, as Tara Culp-Ressler, health reporter and editorial assistant for ThinkProgress site, stated a situation where the school district’s superintendent of a school in Massachusetts explained that “depicting images of teen pregnancy in the yearbook goes against the school’s mission of promoting abstinence.” [3] People who don't support pregnant teens their attitude ultimately creates the environment that punishes,, and shames young mothers. Also another case where school don't support a teens is “ a charter school in Louisiana passing a policy forbidding pregnant students from remaining on campus.”[4] Yet, other people like social workers “ dedicated school-based programs for teen mothers helping prevent students from dropping out”[5] as stated in an article in social work today website. So teen pregnancy is a debate in school weather they should support them or not.
